Its history remounts to more thousands years in time, since already stone instruments from the Low-paleoliticum Age (-2,5 million - 130 thousand year) were found in the Kisakácos, which age is estimated 400-200 thousand years.
The sign of the settling of human in the New Stone Age (Neoliticum) (b.c. 5200 - b.c. 2500) was found in several parts of the town. The most significant of them are the finds of Bükk Culture Nations belongs to the Line Ornate Ceramic Culture of the Great Plain, which were digested on Derekegyháza Hill.
Finds from the Brass Age, the Iron Age, even from the time of skitas, celts, gepidas, hun were excavated.
The most intrested finds of thesettlement of Magyars in Hungary and the state estabilishing were found both in Földvár of Borsod, and in several parts of the town.
